To all of our friends, patrons, and well-wishers:
Your friends at The Gaskill would like to extend endless gratitude for your ongoing support and enthusiasm toward our humble operation during the last eight months. We are sad to say that due to incomparable circumstances, our space will no longer be available as an art gallery. We do hope to see you all at First Fridays, Reception Wednesdays, and all around our beloved Town supporting everything that is local, Oakland, and inspiring. For any future opportunities or ideas, please contact us at thegaskill@gmail.com. Thanks again for a great run-we are happy to have shared our passions with all of you!
Much love to all who came out to A Summer Show’s opening on Saturday. If you have any pictures, feel free to post and tag your images on Facebook!
Xoxo,
The Gaskill

The sun is hot and our favorite season of the year is halfway over. When you’ve recovered from 4th of July antics (read: food coma, loss of hearing/limbs, sunburn, hangover, etc.), be sure to check out A Summer Show, our latest group show at the Gaskill, featuring works by Optimist, Safety First, Patric O’Neill, Jared Roses, Jonathan Blythe, Albert Yip, Hall Felker & Roar. As usual, you can expect to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, drinks and the most cultured of crowds :)
Today marks Chuck Close’s 72nd birthday!
In this video, Close remembers the American art scene of the 1960s, a time when sculpture ruled and many considered it “dumb to paint,” and explains why he chose to focus on portraits.
